details

1:00pm: yesterday, the mahmood family drove for about 7 hours and stayed overnight at the baobab valley resort on the banks of the ruaha river. they slept in banda's in a lovely setting. today, eating fresh raspberries along the way, they took a very scenic route to iringa which is in the highlands. shafin and his mom run the hastee tastee too restaurant where the mahmood's enjoyed an indian lunch. later, they will be going to visit the isimila stone age site.

iringa is a small charming town in the heart of tanzania's tea industry. the town is set on the slopes of a cliff above the little ruaha river. 15km west of iringa is the isimilia stone age site from about 60 000 years ago. the site is littered with hand axes, hammers, cleavers and stone picks. also near the site are free-standing natural rock pillars formed by millions of years of weathering.

kisolanza is a working farm, owned and operated by the ghaui family for over 70 years. it is set in the beautiful southern highlands of tanzania at an elevation of over 1800 metres.
