yesterday, the mahmood family enjoyed their day exploring the ruins on kilwa kisiwani. they took a local dhow for a guided tour by pierre, a french restoration architect and yusuf a local guide. they saw the mosques and the once 100 room palace of the persian sultan that ruled this island state. after hiking around the island, they returned on the dhow to be treated to a freshly caught kingfish dinner at the kilwa ruins lodge. the lodge is run by local capetonians and is a great place to stay. http://www.kilwaruinslodge.com
