 9:00pm: after spending a couple of magical days in zanzibar (see day 29), the group left for

dar es salaam on the 1:00pm ferry. they are staying at the newly renovated, elegant harbour view hotel. the cars had also been well taken

care of at the toyota service centre. osman ngeni the manager and ahmed the service supervisor provided excellent first class service and helped get the cars back into top shape. unfortunately the johnstone girls are not in tip top shape and the family will be staying in dar for a couple of more days to recover properly while the mahmood family will explore the southern coast of tanzania and go to kilwa. both families will rendezvous in mikumi in two days to continue the journey.
