details

9:00am: today was another early start for the group as they watched the sunrise over ngorongoro crater. it was a bitterly cold night and they were anxious to get the day started. yesterday, the malaika (mahmood car) got damaged slightly in an accident in the serengeti. the car has been patched up and is in good working condition to continue the journey. they also tried to locate the elusive rhinoceros in the crater but had no luck but did see a lot of other wildlife. then to end the evening, as they were meeting some of the other campers, they came to know about the massacre in marsabit kenya where 70 people were murdered. having driven through marsabit a few days before the incident, they were very glad to be safe and well.

2:00pm: the group is on their way to arusha, passing through the manyara highlands. arusha is a small town located in the shadow of mount meru. they are looking forward to hot showers and clean clothes after camping for two consecutive nights. the roof rack on the buraq (johnstone car) is giving them problems as it becomes lose often. they are repeatedly tightening the nuts and bolts.

11:15pm: the group arrived safely into arusha and are staying at the impala hotel. after hot showers and refreshing themselves, they enjoyed mishkaki (grilled boneless meat) at the well-known local restaurant called khan's grill.
