details

9:00am: delays are becoming a regular irritant for the group. this morning, they arrived at the kenyan border at 7:00am to find out that the border was not open. as of 9:00am, they were still waiting. to add to the delay, they need to fill the cars with petrol but the electricity does not start till noon. hopefully, they will be able to cross the border easily and get to marsabit by late afternoon. marsabit is situated on an isolated million year old extinct volcano which is almost a kilometre above sea level. stay tuned for more!

8:30pm: the group filled up their cars with petrol and have safely made it to marsabit where they will spend the night. tomorrow is another 345km drive on a dirt road to nanyuki where they will cross the equator. they will also be able to see mount kenya, the second highest mountain in africa after mount kilimanjaro.
