details

8:00pm: after spending several days traveling on rough roads and sleeping in the car, the group decided to use today to recuperate, relax and explore the city of addis ababa. they visited merkato market one of the largest in africa and anwar mosque which is the largest mosque in addis ababa. craving some "real food", they found a halal restaurant called the abu dhabi restaurant and enjoyed a lovely meal followed by a traditional coffee ceremony. the ethiopians are very nice, generous, positive and the group has not been hassled. at the national museum, they saw the

3.5 million year old skeleton of "lucy", discovered in northern ethiopia. abdullah's finger has healed well after the injury he incurred in khartoum, sudan. the cars are holding up well and they took the time today to make sure all nuts and bolts are tight before heading towards kenya tomorrow. they are currently one day behind schedule and the plan for tomorrow is to leave addis ababa at 5:00am and head straight to moyale, near the kenyan border. this is a journey of 800km and they will be driving all day! stay tuned for more adventures!
