 12:00pm: the morning was used to visit the historical sites in gonder. the area is very beautiful and green.  gonder was once the capital of the ethiopian empire around 1636. king fasiledes built gonder palace from stone and mortar and in the form of a castle. many ruins, churches and other historical sites are in the area. from gonder they are heading towards

bahir dar, a beautiful town on the southern shores of lake tana. lake tana is the largest lake in ethiopia and is dotted with 37 islands. old churches and monasteries, some over 800 years old are located on 20 of these islands.

 8:30pm: the group arrived safely in bahir dar and are staying at the bahir dar embassy hotel for the night. tomorrow, they have a busy day, visiting the blue nile falls and the rock churches of lalibela.
